Assam Orthodox TGFOP Black Tea (Caffeine)

Our Assam Orthodox TGFOP Black Tea is a rich and flavorful black tea originating from the Assam region in India. This tea is characterized by its full-bodied nature and smooth top notes, which contribute to a well-balanced and enjoyable drinking experience.

One of the distinguishing features of this tea is its malty flavor, which adds depth and complexity to each sip. The strong, coppery color of the brewed tea reflects its robust and vibrant nature. The Assam Orthodox TGFOP Black Tea is highly regarded for its bold taste and bright, refreshing aroma, making it a favorite choice among tea enthusiasts.

The term "TGFOP" stands for Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe, which refers to the grading of the tea leaves. The "Tippy" part of the name indicates the presence of golden tips, which are the young and tender leaf buds. These golden tips add a delicate and sought-after flavor profile to the tea. Consequently, Assam Orthodox TGFOP Black Tea is known for containing a significant proportion of these golden tips, elevating its quality and taste.

Overall, this tea provides a satisfying and invigorating experience for black tea lovers. Its strong flavor, smooth texture, and enticing aroma make it a delightful choice for those seeking a robust and flavorful cup of tea.

This tea is traditionally enjoyed as a breakfast tea and takes milk. The tea leaves have a wonderful, complex aroma even before infusion. Yields over 50 cups and may be steeped multiple times.

What does Orthodox mean?

In the context of tea, the term "orthodox" refers to a traditional and specific method of tea processing. Orthodox tea production involves hand-picking the tea leaves and processing them using traditional methods, which typically include withering, rolling, oxidation, and drying.

Unlike the more modern and mechanized methods used in the production of CTC (crush, tear, curl) teas, orthodox teas are crafted with great care and attention to detail. This traditional approach allows for the preservation of the tea leaves' natural characteristics and flavors.

Orthodox teas are known for their whole or large leaf appearance, as the leaves are handled gently during processing to maintain their integrity. This method is often associated with high-quality teas that offer a more nuanced and complex flavor profile.

The term "orthodox" is used to differentiate this traditional tea processing method from other more mechanized and mass-produced techniques. Orthodox teas are often considered to be of higher quality and are sought after by tea connoisseurs for their unique flavors and characteristics.
